Job Description:
Sr. Sourcing Specialist (in office)SolvChem, Inc. is seeking an
experienced Senior Sourcing Specialist thathas strong negotiations
skills to deliver value to the business. The energetic candidate
will source for the company all categories i.e.; Commodity
chemicals (solvents, aromatics, fuels, menthol to new a few),
components (plastic bottles, metal cans, metal pails, poly pails,
drums and poly totes, pallets, card board boxes). Will also manage
the logistics category by managing the relationship with the third
party vendor who provides the Logistics services (LTL, TL,
Intermodal and Ocean (import/export). The Sourcing Specialist
creates value by providing appropriate input into the development
and implementation of sourcing strategies, function/business
specific related agreements and related work processes in
accordance with the global strategy. Supports all clients in the
business and functions that responsible category areas support. An
active team member with responsibility for various sourcing
activities pertaining to running the business projects and provides
support to the overall sourcing strategy. Manage sourcing projects
with increasing complexity and medium value for the Logistics
Category.Summary of Key Responsibilities:- Executes the sourcing
process and is able to effectively source segments and/or
commodities with increasing complexity and medium value.-
Understands strategies for assigned segments or commodities and
proactively drives initiatives to meet sourcing objectives.- Drives
productivity opportunities with supply base to deliver value to the
business.- Supports Category Managers during complex sourcing
initiatives through data modeling and analysis, change management
and new process execution.- Maximizes revenue share and controls
cost by responding to audits, surveys, or other information
requests from internal and external sources.- Articulates
procurement policies and standards. Encourages and enforces
compliance. Answers inquiries requiring interpretation of policies
and contributes to a strong governance culture by complying with
appropriate governance policies and procedures.- Works
collaboratively with the Buyers in the implementation of strategic
sourcing initiatives.- Develops and composes bid specifications in
such a manner that internal customer needs are addressed.-
Demonstrates the initiative to challenge inefficiencies, process
deviations, and strategy deviations.- Understands strategies for
assigned commodities and proactively drives initiatives to meet
sourcing objectives- Assesses supplier capabilities thru KPI
analysis and makes recommendations on supplier acceptability.
Identifies and qualifies new suppliers as required.- Provides
metrics for all Divisions as required.- Maintains excellent
communication and dialogue with sales, purchasing, customer service
& the planning departments.- Promote a safe working environment
with the company Environmental, Health and Safety Programs.- This
list is not all-inclusive and may include other duties as assigned
and necessary for the operation and management of the shift and
overall plant. Will perform other related duties as
assigned.Qualifications and Education Requirements:- High School
Diploma or equivalent required.- Bachelor's Degree in Business
Administration, Supply Chain, Logistics or equivalent Chemical/
Manufacturing from an accredited College/ University or related
field required.- Bilingual - Read, write, communicate
(English/Spanish) preferred- Minimum three (3+) years of chemical
or related industry experience and knowledge related to purchasing
and materials management is required.- Minimum three (3+) years of
chemical industry, manufacturing/packaging/distribution/industry
preferred.- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office programs
preferred, advanced Excel required- Experience with enterprise
business systems; Chempax, SAP, or related ERP systems, cloud based
systems is needed.Physical Demands/Working & Environmental
Conditions:- General office environment including; stand, walk,
reach, stoop, kneel, bend, or crouch and use of hands to grasp,
handle, feel, reach with hands and arms, lift/ pick up and type.-
Physical ability to stand and walk for long periods.- Must be able
