In 2020, Sugar Land Cancer Center was the recipient of the Press Ganey Guardian of Excellence Award-- for patient experience in radiation therapy. We are also accredited by the American College of Radiology as a radiation oncology facility and a designated Lung Cancer Screening Center.--The Sugar Land Cancer Center and the Sugar Land Diagnostic Center, departments with HCA Houston Healthcare West, are located on the Southwest Freeway at the Williams Trace and Sugar Lakes exit.HCA Houston Healthcare West is affiliated with HCA Houston Healthcare, part of the HCA Healthcare Gulf Coast Division. Facilities include: 17 hospitals, nine ambulatory care centers, 13 off-campus emergency centers, and a regional transfer center.----What you will do in this role:The Radiation Oncology Registered Nurse, under the supervision of her/his peers, the Radiation Oncologists, shall coordinate radiation therapy into the total nursing care plan for our patients. She/he shall also provide leadership by working cooperatively with other multi disciplinary team members of the Radiation Oncology unit to maintain high quality care for our patients. Provide nursing care of patients, consistent with the American Nurses Association and Oncology Nursing Society standards of Oncology Nursing Practice. Implement the policies and procedures of the department, nursing services and SBMC. Documents and report pertinent clinical observations and reactions regarding patients to the appropriate responder. Orients and educates patients regarding radiation therapy treatment. Informs, educates and prepares patients for special procedures. Must follow and adhere to all federal and state laws and regulations, as well as the HCA Code of Conduct and WHMC Performance Standards.What qualification you will need:A. Maintain current licensure and certification.B. Must be licensed in Texas as a Registered Nurse.C. Required -One (1)--or more years recent nursing experience with Oncology/patient experience. Maintains current competency in the provision of patient care in the Radiation Oncology setting. Maintains appropriate teaching methods and materials for patient education. Demonstrates interpersonal leadership, communication and teaching. Possesses a sincere interest in the self development of a health care setting by maintaining own professional growth through appropriate organization, workshops, seminars and other self directed methods. Employee must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care or support based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients served in his/her assigned service area, as defined in this job description/performance evaluation.D.
