Shipping & Receiving Lead

Job Description:

The Shipping Lead coordinates activities of workers engaged in verifying and keeping records on incoming and outgoing shipments, and preparing items for shipment. Hands on position that will assist the Shipping Manager as well.
Role and Responsibilities

Works with management to oversee the internal movement, staging and shipment of semi-finished and finished goods to ensure the fulfillment of customer mandated delivery.
Will assist the Shipping Manager with Supervisory duties & responsibilities.
Leads by example fostering teamwork, sound business decisions and
Oversee accuracy of the daily pulling and picking of orders and the loading of trucks
Maintain accurate inventories in the finished goods warehouses. This includes insuring that the right inventory is in the right location and the right quantity
Ensure that the correct order is loaded on the correct truck and that all orders ship complete
Notifies production when orders are short and what quantities are needed to fulfill orders
Operate, lift, trucks, pallet jacks, and other equipment to safely move parts to proper locations and load and unload trucks as necessary
Responsible for overseeing housekeeping
Provide training of current and new employees in all appropriate procedures and processes required to complete work assignments
Maintain finished goods warehoused, shipping floor, forklift trucks, stretch wrappers, docks and yard
Responsible for quarterly inventory management
Cycle count and reconciliation.
Ensure that all paperwork is processed expeditiously and forwarded as needed
Ensures documentation for all shipments is completed accurately and forwarded timely according to respective government regulations, company policy, and customer specifications.
Collaborates and communicates with logistics technicians, customer service representatives, service providers, and others involved in the shipment and receipt of products.
Promote a safe working environment with exceptional leadership in all the company Environmental, Health and Safety Programs. This list is not all-inclusive and may include other duties as assigned and necessary for the operation and management of the Shipping & Receiving department. Will performs other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum of 1 year in a leadership/supervisor experience required.
Minimum 2 years experience in shipping & receiving is required.
Minimum two (2) years of work experience in chemical industry preferred
Minimum one (1) year of experience working with bulk, totes, drums for a Shipping & Receiving Department, within a chemical plant preferred.
Experience with DOT HAZMAT and IATA; or IMDG, shipping & receiving preferred
Safely and efficiently operate a forklift (preferred)
Experience with RF Scanner, or inventory control hand held device required
Knowledge, Skill & Competencies Requirements:

Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
Preferred: Intermediate Microsoft Office Programs i.e.; Excel, Word
Customer service skills. Able to relate well to all internal and external customers
Analytical aptitude, commitment to accuracy and quality, ability to work in a fast-paced environment
problem solving skills, attention to detail.
Time management with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, as well as handle multiple deadlines with attention to detail
Demonstrated ability to work with frequent interruptions in work flow and constantly changing priorities
Eagerness to learn new things and maintain a positive attitude toward changes and new challenges Openness to new responsibilities and willingness to shift focus.
Physical Demands/Working & Environmental Conditions:
Position requires occasional long hours, work on the evenings, occasional weekends or holidays when needed.
General office environment including; stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, bend, or crouch and use of hands to grasp, handle, feel, reach with hands and arms, lift/ pick up and type.
Physical ability to stand and walk for long periods.
Ability to work in a production plant environment with fumes, dirt, dust, noise, and hazardous chemicals on a daily basis.
Can be exposed to extreme heat and extreme cold including climates consistent with outside weather conditions.
Must be able to pass companys Drug & Alcohol Screenings.
