Dover Precision Components is part of Dover Corporation's Fluids segment.Summary:The Laboratory Technician performs a wide variety of engineering and testing activities to support new product development activities across multiple operating Dover Bearings & Compression companies by performing the following duties:Responsibilities: Execute experimental plans under the supervision of NPD or Material development team (aka Research Team). Work safely and have a clear understanding of laboratory and industrial equipment safety requirements and precautions. Install, reconfigure, and commission test rigs, lab compressors, and other equipment to generate the intended outcome of the experimental plan. Consult and plan with research team on equipment configuration and test plans. Install and calibrate instrumentation used during testing to capture data of importance to test outcome. Research testing instruments and equipment in accordance with testing needs of the Innovation lab. Perform a variety of tests on materials, bearings, compression molded products, sealing components, valve components, and injection molded components & closely monitor tests while in progress. Gather all test data. Consult with research team as data is gathered to amend test plans or equipment to ensure successful execution of experiments Input data into lab or system database. Install and test software upgrades as needed and modify software as necessary Keep supervisor abreast of any testing or equipment problems encountered. Carry out other duties in order to meet the developing needs of our team and business. Operates all laboratory equipment such as blenders, compression/injection molding machines and machining tools. Develops and supports standards and methods for testing and evaluation of experimental materials and new products.Skills/Qualifications: Knowledge on rotating compression equipment; knowledge of machining processes and systems. Desire and ability to perform "hands-on" activities in various settings. Extremely strong mechanical aptitude. Ability to read, interpret, and create system drawings. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Self-directed individual capable of performing a variety of tasks. Open to innovative ideas.Education and Experience: Two year Associates degree in Engineering or other related field with 2-5 years of compression or bearing field experience OR Bachelors Degree in Engineering plus 0-3 years experience. Ability to breakdown, rebuild, and modify industrial reciprocating compression and pressurized test equipment. Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision. Able to execute test plans with some supervision or collaboration with research team. Excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal skills Ability to use a variety of computer programs. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret a variety of complex forms of information from written materials, technical manuals, safety standards, computerized information, procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to present information and respond to question from managers, vendors, and customers. Ability to write clear coherent reports, and procedures.
